Trump Announces Key Roles for Second Term,
President-elect Donald Trump has begun appointing key positions in his second administration, focusing on aides and allies who were his most dedicated supporters during the 2024 campaign.
On Monday, Trump announced plans to appoint former New York Rep. Lee Zeldin to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), longtime adviser Stephen Miller as deputy chief of policy, Rep. Mike Waltz of Florida as his national security adviser, and Rep. Elise Stefanik as U.N. Ambassador.
Trump’s transition team earlier tapped former ICE director Tom Homan for the position of border czar and senior adviser Susie Wiles as chief of staff, making her the first woman to hold the position.
Media sources also reported Monday that Trump was expected to name Sen. Marco Rubio to be Secretary of State, while cautioning that Trump could still change his mind.
Spirit Airlines Flight Hit by Gunfire in Haiti,
A Spirit Airlines flight out of Florida was hit by gunfire Monday while attempting to land in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, injuring a flight attendant.
The flight, en route from Fort Lauderdale, was diverted to Santiago, Dominican Republic, where it landed safely.
Toussaint Louverture International Airport grounded all commercial flights following the incident, which occurred just hours before Haiti’s new prime minister was set to be sworn in.
The attackers remain unidentified, but the shooting aligns with recent gang violence targeting aircraft in the region. Spirit Airlines confirmed the incident and announced a suspension of service to Haiti.
Wildfires Devastate Both U.S. Coasts,
Fire crews on both coasts of the U.S. continued to battle wildfires, including one in New York and New Jersey that resulted in the death of a parks employee, and another in Southern California that has destroyed over 170 buildings.
Hundreds of firefighters from New York and New Jersey struggled to contain nine blazes that have erupted across the region, including the Jennings Creek Fire, located about 30 miles northwest of Midtown Manhattan. Containment was 10% by late Monday.
An 18-year-old park ranger, Dariel Vasquez, died while fighting one of the blazes. He worked for New York’s Parks and Recreation Department.
In Southern California, strong winds have intensified wildfires. Crews increased containment of the Mountain Fire in Ventura County, northwest of Los Angeles, to 36% as of Monday. The fire continues to span approximately 32 square miles.
POLITICS,
Republican Sen. Mike Lee offered to escort Pennsylvania Senator-elect Dave McCormick to Capitol orientation this week after Majority Leader Chuck Schumer blocked McCormick’s attendance. Three-term Democratic incumbent Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey has yet to concede in the only Senate race still outstanding.
The GOP battle for Senate majority leader is set for a vote Wednesday between Rick Scott, the favorite among Trump supporters, and former Mitch McConnell deputies John Thune and John Cornyn.
The Kremlin denied reports on Monday that President-elect Donald Trump had spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling the claims “pure fiction” despite a media report indicating otherwise

Twitter and Facebook Marketing,
Promote your book/ebook on twitter and anything digital. For example, Christian Apps. I can hear all the naysayers say that twitter is a cesspool and you can’t sell anything on twitter. I have been on twitter since August 2012. I am an author and I can tell you this is false. I have sold many, many books that I can track back to twitter. I have 12 thousand 200+ followers on twitter and it all depends on who you follow. My followers are about half political and half writers, authors and readers. Now there are some writers, and especially christian writers say that they don’t feel right selling their books. You mean to tell me that God led you to write the book and all that goes into it and not mean for you to not tell people about it? I just don’t buy it. Check out some of my previous work:

Long Ago, when the Roman Empire was at the height of its glory, a common saying was “All Roads Lead to Rome.” I want to tell you about a very special road — a road that existed then and still exists now. This road, now almost 2,000 years old, has never led to Rome. Yet, strangely enough, it is called the Romans Road.
This takes the reader to selected passages in the Book of Romans in the Bible to explain the plan of Salvation. This is the ideal way to share the gospel using your Kindle. The reader can also read the entire book of Romans un-interrupted.
