CEO Shooter No Longer in NYC,
Authorities believe the suspect in Wednesday’s deadly shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has left New York City, boarding a bus at a Manhattan terminal bound for Atlanta shortly after the incident.
Investigators confirmed the suspect arrived in New York City days earlier on a bus from Atlanta. The Atlanta Police Department said they were contacted by the NYPD and will provide assistance as needed.
Police have continued to recover evidence, including what appears to be the backpack carried by the suspected shooter, Friday evening in Central Park.
Possible DNA evidence has also been collected. Authorities have confirmed that they recovered a water bottle at the scene, along with a fake ID and a cellphone.
Economy adds 227,000 Jobs,
The U.S. economy rebounded in November, adding 227,000 jobs despite unemployment rising to 4.2%, the Labor Department reported Friday.
The new numbers surpassed October’s gain of 36,000 jobs, with hourly wages rising 0.4%, but the job market is showing signs of a gradual slowdown.
According to one economist, the increase in the unemployment rate against job and income gains could trigger a new cut in interest rates this month.
College Football Preview,
It’s championship weekend in college football, where all conference titles will be determined, and some games will affect the final playoff seeding.
The Power 4 conferences have their championship games today—No. 16 Iowa State faces No. 15 Arizona State in the Big 12 Championship, and No. 5 Georgia takes on No. 2 Texas in the SEC title match.
No. 3 Penn State battles top-ranked Oregon in the Big Ten Championship, and No. 17 Clemson will conclude the day against No. 8 SMU in the ACC title game.
