TAKEOFF.
Trump Budgets for ‘Golden Dome’ for America.
President Donald Trump’s 2026 budget proposal includes plans to develop a Golden Dome missile defense system modeled after Israel’s Iron Dome, which intercepts incoming missiles in the air.
The proposed shield would be part of a $113 billion boost to defense spending.
Democratic lawmakers are calling for a review of Elon Musk’s involvement in the proposed project, given the likelihood that Musk’s SpaceX would win the bid on producing the system.
Critics question the feasibility of replicating Israel’s system on the U.S. scale, but the administration claims it’s a necessary step toward national security.
Bombing Thwarted at Lady Gaga’s Brazil Show.
Brazilian police say they thwarted a planned bomb attack targeting Lady Gaga’s free concert at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana beach on Saturday, where more than two million fans gathered.
Authorities arrested two suspects—a man in Rio Grande do Sul and a teenager in Rio—accused of planning to use improvised explosives to gain notoriety on social media.
Police indicated the plan was orchestrated by a large extremist network, which was “virtually recruiting participants to carry out attacks” with IEDs and Molotov cocktails.
Gaga’s team said they were unaware of the threat until after the show, which went on with tight security including 5,000 officers, drones, and facial recognition tech.
Cardinal’s Viral Video Shakes Up Papal Race.
With the papal conclave set to begin Wednesday, two prominent figures have emerged: Italian Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, and Filipino Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, who went viral on TikTok for singing John Lennon’s Imagine. See the video here.
While some conservative groups express concern over Tagle’s progressive image and the implications of the song’s lyrics, many younger Catholics have shown support through memes and the trending hashtag #TagleCore.
The upcoming papal election has drawn heavy interest on prediction markets like Kalshi, a U.S.-based exchange regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, where over $4 million has been wagered on potential successors—Parolin and Tagle among the favorites.

Texas residents voted on Saturday to make Elon Musk’s SpaceX headquarters its own official city, named Starbase, with the majority of the eligible voters being SpaceX employees.

In publishing the life of the late CHARLES HADDON SPURGEON, the publishers feel a peculiar pleasure and believe themselves especially fortunate in having secured the Rev. Russell H. Conwell, D.D., LL.D., pastor at The Temple, of Philadelphia, to prepare the work. There are many reasons why the popular preacher, who might justly be called the Spurgeon of America, should in this way pay a loving tribute to the memory of his great English ecclesiastical brother, and why such a book must have an absorbing interest for all readers. Foremost among these might be considered his personal acquaintance with the great divine of gigantic efforts and wonderful achievements, and the deep study he has ever given to his popular brother preacher’s life and the measure of its successes.
