Prayer, Prayers, and Praying

by Rebekah Beene

“Dear Lord, thank You for a beautiful day” is how my bedtime prayers always started. Then with my mom by my side we’d go through the take care of’s. “Take care of momma and daddy…” and on down the line throughout our family. You could say I’ve been praying for family all my life.

They were the simple prayers of childhood and probably not deeply doctrinal or anything profound. However this morning God speaks to my heart…

I Am that I Am. My hearing is not contingent on the length, breadth or abilities of your prayers. I don’t grade anything, especially prayers, on the merit of who prays best. I look on the heart. You don’t have to worry so much about how to pray- just seek My face.

Oh beloved, you’ve been praying and praying and praying. God heard the very first prayer you ever prayed and He’s been listening always. You prayed as a child but you’ve grown older and your prayers are more urgent, even some you are praying for are in desperate need. God hears. He loves when His children pray. The greatest gift He gives a born again believer is His Presence and His ear. You’ve been praying so long for one particular item that you’re about to think it’s no go, that He isn’t going to answer that one. You’re no beggar hoping for a scrap of bread. You’re a resident of heavenly places knowing that living water is flowing from your belly and you are fully equipped to wait, listen, pray and seek His face. You are an intercessor – you are a mediator on behalf of those you pray for. Heaven knows and time will tell that you have prayed huge, audacious, unbelievable prayers. Heaven rejoices each time you talk to the Father about your needs and praise Him for who He is! Destiny awaits those who seek His face and destiny for you is peace, love, joy, confidence, strength and dignity. Don’t shed another tear over unanswered prayer. Instead begin thanking the Father that His answer is perfect and on the way – right on time! This is your greatest power – to talk to the Creator of the Universe about everything and bring everyone’s needs to Him in prayer.

God loves you and He’s for you. The prayers of a child mean much to the Father and you are a child of God when you put your trust in Christ. Praise Him for the trust you have in Him and thank Him for answers as you walk in the knowledge that He hears you always.

Psalm 116:2 Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!

Ephesians 3:12 In whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him [that is, our faith gives us sufficient courage to freely and openly approach God through Christ]. AMP

Psalm 145:18 The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.

Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.

About the Author:

Rebekah Beene

In a Christian Women’s meeting in 1983, Rebekah was given a prophetic message that she would write books. Several years ago she began writing stories about special holiday memories and travels, sharing God’s love and care through each story. God has gifted Rebekah with the ability to look at the natural and see the supernatural. Both Rebekah and her husband Danny have a heart to share the Gospel and the riches of life in Christ to everyone they meet. They have served in the local church and in ministry to motorcyclists. Danny is an ordained minister and they both have been Bible study teachers for many years. Rebekah also speaks at women’s retreats and conferences. Her tag line says it all “God loves you and He’s for you”.
