I have heard from so many writers recently who feel like they can’t go on. It’s a long hard marathon, and when you have little support, it feels interminable.
“Should I keep going?”
“Is my writing even good enough?”
“What is the point if all anyone wants to read is smut?”
It seems like the devil is prowling like a lion in the camp of Christian writers (both those who write for the Christian audience, and those who write for the general audience). He’s seeking who he can devour.
But the Lion of the tribe of Judah is getting ready to roar! He is going to roar over you with His encouragement!
We have a calling to tell a story, or many stories. The Lion of the tribe of Judah wants to roar through us! If saying that is not enough evidence, here’s some scriptural evidence:
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. – 1 Peter 2:9
And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. – Habakkuk 2:2
The Lord gives the word; the women who announce the news are a great host – Psalm 68:11 (This can apply to you even if you are a man!)
Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. – John 21:25
- When David was discouraged, he strengthened himself in the Lord. (1 Sam. 30:6b)
- If this wasn’t encouragement enough, start praising God for His goodness.
- Praise the LORD! Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD!
- Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and forevermore!
- From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the LORD is to be praised!
- The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens!
- Who is like the LORD our God, who is seated on high,
- who looks far down on the heavens and the earth?
- He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
- to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people.
- He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the LORD! – Psalms 11
- God shall arise, his enemies shall be scattered; and those who hate him shall flee before him!
- As smoke is driven away, so you shall drive them away; as wax melts before fire, so the wicked shall perish before God!
- But the righteous shall be glad; they shall exult before God; they shall be jubilant with joy!
- Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the LORD; exult before him!
- Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.
- God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land. – Psalm 68:1-6
Now, pick up your pen! You have an adventure ahead!
