As my daughter answered the phone this morning I thought I heard tussling and some arguing. Sure enough it was my granddaughter Stella fighting for control of the cell phone and speaking her unhappiness. It seems that Stella was playing on the phone. When it began to ring she said, “No! It’s NOT RINGING!” so that her mother wouldn’t take it from her. The power play continued until her mother gained control. Stella was unhappy but she was bound by her mother’s decision to answer the phone.
We do that to God sometimes don’t we? We hear His message loud and clear. Repent. Change direction. Stop doing that. Turn over control to Me. We hear the ringing but we say “No that’s not God. He wouldn’t tell us to stop? He wouldn’t want to be in control? We were just having a good time!” Truth is we often have our spiritual life and a good time fade into one another. What starts out as just serving God gets clouded as it becomes more fun than ministry. Pretty soon we’re just having fun and not really ministering to anyone. Then when God calls up and wants to change things we try to ignore His still small voice.
Oh beloved, I encourage you today to listen to the Lord’s call! Take it quickly! Drop whatever you are doing and answer His request to get in closer touch with you. His call is important. His call is your life source. It’s not “your” ministry anyway. It’s His through you. And if a talk with the Lord makes you crazy then it’s time to slow down and step away from the fun. God never says His call has to be drudgery. He just wants to stay in close contact with you so He can guide you, watch over you and give you His best.
God loves you and He’s for you. That’s what matters as you reconnect with the Lord. Christ is living in heaven interceding for you 24/7. The Holy Spirit is residing in you to help you answer the call. God’s call is your most important message. His love is why you answer. And His anointing is why you let Him call the shots. God blesses the life connected and in close contact with Him. Rejoice that He’s still calling you! Live in the Light of His Word and watch those calls become the very thing you look forward to most in your day!
1 Samuel 3:9 And Eli said to Samuel, “Go lie down, and it shall be if He calls you, that you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
John 10:3 To Him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear His voice, and He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
Matthew 4:4 But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'”
Jeremiah 10:23 I know, O LORD, that a man’s way is not in himself, Nor is it in a man who walks to direct his steps.
Psalm 16:11 You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of Your presence and the pleasures of living with You forever.
About the Author:
In a Christian Women’s meeting in 1983, Rebekah was given a prophetic message that she would write books. Several years ago she began writing stories about special holiday memories and travels, sharing God’s love and care through each story. God has gifted Rebekah with the ability to look at the natural and see the supernatural. Both Rebekah and her husband Danny have a heart to share the Gospel and the riches of life in Christ to everyone they meet. They have served in the local church and in ministry to motorcyclists. Danny is an ordained minister and they both have been Bible study teachers for many years. Rebekah also speaks at women’s retreats and conferences. Her tag line says it all “God loves you and He’s for you”.
