by Rebekah Beene

Visiting with my 95-year-old aunt and her granddaughter, we talked about when they were young. I told her some stories about their childhood and she was amaze. Since she was one of the youngest siblings and my mother was one of the oldest siblings, she hadn’t heard those stories. I’m so glad my mother shared lots of life memories with me.

One generation to the next – it is so important to share life with one another.  The art of story telling across the generations is still so very important. Get someone older in your family to share things with you.  And write those stories down.

Oh beloved, how important it is to share the wonderful accounts of God in the Bible! And beyond that, how important it is to share personal accounts of the older generation’s accounts of God personally. The art of faith life has been lowered in importance. Yet a friend told me last night on the phone that she still remembers getting up to her grandmother reading the Bible each morning. Faith of our ancestors is needful and knowing their faith accounts helps us as well.

You are a generation that needs to share. If you have family you can tell your stories to, by all means do that. If you don’t feel you have anyone to share them with, then write them down. Someone will be so glad you did. And you will be revived by your own stories of God’s faithfulness and love in the past.  Remember God of yesterday is the same God of today. He doesn’t sleep or slumber. He isn’t caught by surprise at fiery trials that come your way. He isn’t a distant entity who stays aloof. He wants relationship and He loves to hear you recount Him in faith. It’s your testimony! When you were born again, when you received Holy Spirit, when you found the power to live for Jesus…all these things are needful. As well, how God got you through an illness or trouble. Maybe you didn’t even realize how faithful God has been until you recall it all.

God loves you and He is for you. Always. Run to Him this morning and thank Him for your stories of faith. And live, precious believer, in the Light of the Blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony!

Psalm 103:2  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits

Psalm 119:55  I remember Your name in the night, O Lord…

1 Samuel 12:24 Fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things He has done for you.

Psalm 34:1-3 I will always thank the Lord; I will never stop praising Him. I will praise Him for what He has done; may all who are oppressed listen and be glad! Proclaim with me the Lord’s greatness; let us praise His name together!

Psalm 63:7 I will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which He is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us— yes, the many good things He has done for Israel, according to His compassion and many kindnesses
