A Romantic Read for Saint Valentine’s Day by Barbara J. Robinson

Romance is blowing in the wind. Can’t you just hear it as the mossy Spanish drapes wave? I fell in love with Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind as a teen, and I’ve always felt antebellum plantation novels were romantic. Journey to the antebellum South with characters you’ll root for in River Oaks Plantation and let a little wind blow through your hair. Journey to the antebellum period with Maggie and Danny and weather the storm with Cammie and Noah with dual storylines and two beautiful love stories. A blend of historical and contemporary where the past meets the present. Will a raging hurricane destroy what the Civil War has spared?

Sadly, we all know plantation life wasn’t all romantic, and this forty chapter Christian historical novel illustrates love and romance, but also heartache and pain. A metaphor for resilient human spirit, the plantation is the common thread.

My latest published novel is River Oaks Plantation, but I have another plantation Civil War novel in the works, and it will be straight Christian historical romance titled Romance Under the Oaks set in Vacherie, Louisiana, about fifty miles from New Orleans. My husband and I toured Oak Alley Plantation in January and loved it. He snapped the picture for the cover, and my granddaughter made it. It will release in the spring.

Historically, the name is Saint Valentine’s Day, but it has been shortened to the term Valentine’s Day, the way we refer to it. Geoffrey Chaucer and William Shakespeare wrote about romantic love and Valentine’s Day, the way most people associate with the term today.

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day by reading two love stories and showing an author a little love? The link below takes you to Amazon, and you can read the blurb there, which is longer and use the “See Inside” book feature to read the first two-and-a-half chapters. Happy reading and Happy St. Valentine’s Day. Be blessed with a good read and an awesome day.
