Writing Tips

Writing is a growing process, and many writers, myself included, tell me they learn from what they write.  Here’s your first tip–:  Even if you feel as though you were born to write, it takes practice, time, trial and error, and focus.  However, if you haven’t published anything yet, I encourage you not to give up.

Secondly–:  It may be that you need to redefine your writing goals and ask yourself why you are writing.  Who is your audience?  What do you want to tell them?  If it is to encourage and inspire others on their journey to knowing and walking with the Lord, chances are good that the Lord will help you and open doors for you.

Thirdly–:  As a writer, I try to remind myself of Matthew 6:33 often:  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

He wants us to keep Him first, even in our writing, and listen for His instruction about what themes to write about.

Fourthly–:  I believe we need to season our speech with grace.  Psalm 45, verse 1,2, and 4 are among my favorite writing Scriptures.  1 My heart is inditing a good matter:  I speak of the things which I have made touching the king:  my tongue is the pen of a ready writer. 2 Thou are fairer than the children of men:  grace is poured into thy lips:  therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.  4  And in thy majesty, ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

And lastly, another writing tip, establish friendships with other writers.  Writers tend to help each other when needed.  Psalm 68:11 says, The Lord gave the word:  great was the company of those that published it.

I hope you enjoy your journey of writing to the fullest, my friends.  Keep on keeping on and leave a comment if you saw this post.
