Verse of the Day and Devotion

With every bone in my body I will praise him: “Lord, who can compare with you? Who else rescues the helpless from the strong? Who else protects the helpless and poor from those who rob them?”– Psalm 35:10 NLT

Devotion

He’s done it again. The Lord, that is, has done it again for me. He’s saved me. I was in trouble. I had enemies. They opposed me at every turn. What did I do? I did what I always do. I called out to the Lord. I turned to Him for the help I needed. I turned to Him and it worked. He saw to it that I got the protection I needed. He saw to it that those stronger than my enemies came to my aid. He made them see the injustice of it all. He made them angry at what was being done to me. They fought for me and they won. My enemies were forced to back away into the shadows.

Who can compare with the Lord? I couldn’t handle the situation on my own. My enemies were too strong for me. My family couldn’t do anything to help. My enemies would have easily brushed them aside. My friends didn’t have the strength that was necessary either. They would have been even less of a help. No, I turned to the Lord because experience has taught me that no one can compare to Him. No one has the knowledge and power necessary for battle. The Lord is the one to turn to first of all. The Lord is the one that can put all the pieces together for a victory.

Helpless people, listen to me! There is no one like the Lord. Don’t try to do it on your own. Don’t neglect to call out to Him. Maybe it’s worked for you in the past. Maybe you got by on your own a time or two. Trust me, it won’t work when real trouble comes your way. It’s foolish to think that you can handle it every time. It’s prideful and dumb. No mere human has that kind of ability. There’s always going to be someone stronger, more savvy, or more devious than you. Humble yourself and call out to the strongest one of all. Humble yourself and call out to the Lord!

After you do, you can join me. With every bone in your body and mine we will praise Him!
