TAKEOFF,

Trump Confirms Deportation Plan,

President-elect Donald Trump confirmed on Monday that he would declare a national emergency to fulfill his campaign promise of mass deportations of illegal migrants living in the U.S.

Trump made the statement on Truth Social, responding “TRUE!!!” to a post from Judicial Watch chief Tom Fitton’s post about using military assets to reverse Biden’s immigration policies.

Advocates for illegal migrants are preparing a legal defense against mass deportations, with an ACLU official stating they are ready to challenge the efforts in court and, if necessary, on the streets.

Alfonso Aguilar, a former U.S. Office of Citizenship official, stated that opponents of the policy were responding to fearmongering, emphasizing that initial deportations would focus on targeted arrests of criminals.

Spirit Airlines Files for Bankruptcy Protection,

Spirit Airlines filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday after accumulating more than $2.5 billion in losses since 2020 and facing looming debt payments exceeding $1 billion.

The filing follows numerous business challenges, including increased competition from major carriers, declining fare revenues, and a failed $3.8 billion merger attempt with JetBlue that was blocked by federal regulators earlier this year.

The airline assured passengers they can continue to book and fly as normal, use all tickets and loyalty points, and access Saver$ Club perks during the restructuring process, which it expects to complete in the first quarter of 2025.

The bankruptcy filing will result in Spirit being delisted from the New York Stock Exchange.

Map: Average Grocery Bill Per State,

American households spend an average of $270.21 per week on groceries, with Hawaii residents paying the most at $334, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

Since August 2020, grocery prices have risen by 20%, the steepest inflation since the 1970s, with shipping costs being the primary driver.

Farming and food production-based economies have kept grocery costs lower in Midwest states, while California, Washington, and New York face higher prices, reflecting overall higher living costs.

Overall, 31 states spend below the average weekly grocery cost, with Wisconsin having the lowest at $221.

POLITICS,

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled 4-3 Monday in favor of Republicans, upholding a decision that mail-in ballots with missing or incorrect dates cannot be counted and directing Bucks, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties to comply.

President-elect Donald Trump announced Monday that he will nominate Fox News host and former Wisconsin Rep. Sean Duffy, 53, as transportation secretary. Duffy served nearly nine years in the House, including leadership on the Financial Services Committee.

The Biden administration requested nearly $100 billion in emergency funding from Congress Monday, including $40 billion for FEMA to support recovery from Hurricanes Helene and Milton and other disasters.

The House Ethics Committee is set to meet Wednesday to discuss whether to release its report on former Rep. Matt Gaetz, though the meeting could be delayed after early details about the session leaked.

Consumer sentiment turned positive for the first time since June 2021, rising to 100.6 on November 11, fueled by a surge in Republican optimism after President-elect Trump’s win.

Long Ago, when the Roman Empire was at the height of its glory, a common saying was “All Roads Lead to Rome.” I want to tell you about a very special road — a road that existed then and still exists now. This road, now almost 2,000 years old, has never led to Rome. Yet, strangely enough, it is called the Romans Road.
This takes the reader to selected passages in the Book of Romans in the Bible to explain the plan of Salvation. This is the ideal way to share the gospel using your Kindle. The reader can also read the entire book of Romans un-interrupted.
