Today marks The Flyover’s second anniversary! We sent our very first national issue on March 17, 2023, and never turned off the afterburners. Over 2 million Americans take off with us every morning, and we’re honored to have you aboard.

Later today you’ll receive a special note from our founder recounting our journey. In the meantime, please enjoy today’s top story about our growth from an idea to one of America’s largest and fastest growing news organizations—thanks to you! Check it out below.

TAKEOFF.

The Flyover Celebrates 2nd Anniversary.

Two years ago today, the first national edition of The Flyover was delivered to 47 people.

Our writing, editing, and proofreading staff consisted of just one person, Cole. Today, 10 editions of The Flyover reach more than 2.1 million readers daily, and we have a full team of writers, editors, and proofreaders across the country—along with sales, technology, and customer support staff.

We’ve learned a lot in two years, but as you can see in our first edition—the goal has always been to cover the day’s news in a direct and unbiased way.

In 2024, we added our Rotator section (take the poll below to let us know your favorite!) along with our special coverage section (Olympics, Election, Holiday, etc). We also listened closely to your feedback, and we worked hard to improve our news coverage.

Growth brought new opportunities. Texas got the first Flyover state edition in January, 2024, and that’s grown to over 300,000 readers. Since then, we’ve added eight more state editions.

The Flyover’s success is due to you, our readers, and we can’t thank you enough for sticking with us.

We’ve got big plans for year three—including new state editions and a big new project that you’ll hear more about soon. (Hint: it’s a podcast :slightly_smiling_face: )

If you like The Flyover and find value and appreciate our work—we would love for you to support us financially if you can. We know everyone isn’t able, but your financial support means a lot to us. It’s a huge help!

U.S. Strikes Houthis in Yemen.

The U.S. launched multiple, wide-ranging military strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen on Saturday, killing at least 31 and wounding 101, according to reports.

President Trump indicated that the strikes—the most extensive in Yemen since he took office— were just the beginning, and that the U.S. would use “overwhelming lethal force” until Houthi shipping attacks stopped.

Plans for the attack reportedly accelerated after Houthis shot down a U.S. military drone two weeks ago and in the wake of President Trump re-designating the Houthis as a terrorist organization.

A Houthi spokesman responded to the strikes by vowing “more escalation” from the Iranian-backed rebels.

March Madness Brackets Set.

Let the games begin! The NCAA March Madness brackets were set Sunday with Auburn, Duke, Houston, and Florida claiming the No. 1 seeds for the men’s tournament.

For the women’s tournament, UCLA, South Carolina, Texas, and USC were selected as the top seeds.

The SEC conference set a record with 14 of its total 16 teams selected for the men’s NCAA Tournament. Only South Carolina and LSU were left out.

The first four play-in games for both tournaments are slated for Tuesday and Wednesday, and the tournament’s first round contests will kick off Thursday. Here’s the men’s schedule, and the women’s schedule is here.

March Madness is also a major betting opportunity for many Americans, who fill out brackets in office pools and for online riches.

POLITICS.

The Trump administration transferred hundreds of Venezuelan immigrants to El Salvador this weekend using the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 despite a federal judge’s order temporarily barring the deportations. The flights were in the air at the time of the ruling.

President Trump signed a temporary spending bill Saturday to fund the government through the end of September and avert a government shutdown.

French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou said it was “probably” a mistake to include American whiskey in its retaliatory tariffs, and called for negotiations to avoid more damaging tariffs on the French wine and cognac industry.
