THE FLYOVER REPLAY,

Monday, November 4, 2024,

Good Morning! On this day in 1980, Ronald Reagan won a decisive victory over President Jimmy Carter, marking a major shift toward conservative policies that would shape the U.S. throughout the 1980s.

Today we’re covering the last day of campaigning before Election Day, the speedboat capture of a Hezbollah terrorist, and the resignation of an entire Oklahoma town’s police force.

We hope you enjoyed reading today’s Flyover. Let us know how we’re doing by replying to Russell Sherrard at russellsherrard@reagan.com.

TAKEOFF,

Trump, Harris Make Final Push,

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris intensified their campaigns in Sun Belt states over the final weekend before the election, aiming to sway undecided voters in key battlegrounds.

Harris emphasized her readiness to offer new leadership as president, while Trump predicted a sweeping victory, including winning the popular vote, during rallies in North Carolina and Virginia.

Trump continues rallying in North Carolina today after stops there each day since Saturday. Harris also visited the state on Saturday.

Both campaigns will be in Pittsburgh today for a final appeal to Pennsylvania, viewed by many as perhaps the most critical swing state.

Tornadoes Rip Through Oklahoma City Area,

At least 11 people were injured and hospitalized early Sunday when a swarm of tornadoes hit the Oklahoma City area, damaging homes and toppling power lines.

The National Weather Service estimated that between six and 12 twisters touched down during a four-hour period starting late Saturday night, rating the tornadoes as EF-3 and EF-1.

Tornado warnings were issued, including one that prompted shelter-in-place orders at the University of Oklahoma’s Norman campus.

Authorities reported significant damage in communities such as Choctaw and Newcastle, with more severe weather forecast for Sunday afternoon.

List: Which States Drink the Most,

Delaware and New Hampshire lead the country in per capita spirits consumption, with each state averaging over four gallons of liquor per person annually.

That’s roughly equivalent to 20 standard 750 ml bottles of spirits per person each year. The average American consumes less than that, about 2.3 gallons of spirits each year, but the per capita total varies by state.

Utah has the state with the lowest per capita consumption at 1.36 gallons, followed by West Virginia at 1.82.

POLITICS,

An FCC commissioner has accused Saturday Night Live of violating the Equal Time rules by inviting Vice President Kamala Harris, but not former President Donald Trump, to appear on the show two nights ago.

Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt resigned from the Washington Post after storming off a live show, accusing colleagues of bias over their election coverage.

The U.S. flew a B-1B bomber with South Korean and Japanese jets Sunday in a drill responding to North Korea’s long-range missile test, capable of reaching the U.S.
