Ever so often we find a movie that is truly outstanding. One of those movies is “Woman in Gold”. Only one outburst of curse words makes any movie better, but this movie is a wonderful reminder of goodness triumphing and a stellar portrayal of restoration following artwork looted from Jewish families by the Nazis during the war. Mrs. Altman, the niece of the woman in the $135 million portrait, had to face her fears and return to the country she fled during the war. But with the help of a young, inexperienced lawyer, the portrait and many other works of art were returned to the rightful owner.
Restoration is a precious gift and the enemy will work hard to keep you from what is rightfully yours. But as you and I prevail in prayer and submit our lives to God, we can trust Him to return what we truly need and miraculously achieve this for us.
Oh beloved, perhaps your family didn’t lose millions of dollars’ worth of fine portraits and artworks. But you feel robbed just the same. Your heart was stolen and your hope feels gone. As you look back at the past, you have huge regrets over things you can do nothing about. And as you look forward you have fears that seem insurmountable. God wants you to know this morning that He is in the restoration business. He alone can retrieve your hopes and dreams. He alone can make all things new for you. But this is for sure – God wants to heal your broken places and restore you to your full worth in Christ. You may have to face some fears and allow God into the hidden recesses of your life – where you felt robbed and where you feel raided. But as you spend time with the Lord, confess your life’s heartaches and ask Him to do what only He can do – He does exceedingly abundantly above all you could ever ask or think.
He wants you to know Him and the power of His resurrection. He wants to give you precious jewels of faith, hope, joy, peace and more. He wants you to have rest in the weary days of life. He wants to return your value to you – that you are more than a number on a list, more than a spot on a pew, more than a worker in an office or a factory. You are His and that gives you great value – more value than you can imagine. As you listen to your Father God and look at His Word, you will find great riches that are waiting for you to take back and live the lavish life of a believer. You aren’t the sum of the things you’ve lost – you are the grand total of all that is available to you as you relish the Presence of Holy Spirit and the blessings given through your Savior.
God loves you and He’s for you. Start there. Move forward into expectation of restoration. Watch as you live a more fervent life in Christ! Pray without ceasing – always talking to the Father about your needs and those of the ones you may be seeking restoration with. And rejoice that you have wealth untold as you live in the Light of God’s abundant portions for your life!
Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!
Colossians 2:2-3 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Psalm 19:9-10 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.
Psalm 51:12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
Ephesians 3:20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
About the Author:
In a Christian Women’s meeting in 1983, Rebekah was given a prophetic message that she would write books. Several years ago she began writing stories about special holiday memories and travels, sharing God’s love and care through each story. God has gifted Rebekah with the ability to look at the natural and see the supernatural. Both Rebekah and her husband Danny have a heart to share the Gospel and the riches of life in Christ to everyone they meet. They have served in the local church and in ministry to motorcyclists. Danny is an ordained minister and they both have been Bible study teachers for many years. Rebekah also speaks at women’s retreats and conferences. Her tag line says it all “God loves you and He’s for you”.
