I don’t even know if I ever had potential. Perhaps. Latent qualities or abilities that may be developed and lead to future success or usefulness.
If I read the Word right, I have potential – the latent ability to fall on my face. The Word goes on to describe us all – sinners that fall short of the glory of God, deceitfully wicked hearts, like sheep that have gone astray, not one of us is righteous. Let’s stop there.
But for the Grace of God!!!!
Oh beloved, whether you have been deemed to have great potential in the flesh, there is One who has changed you (or will change you when you give your life to Christ). He takes the old life and completely changes us. He does this through Christ who went to the Cross in perfection but died for every single failure, sin, propensity and natural inclination in us. But this same Jesus rose again! And that’s where our hope lies!
We’ve been changed and now we have TRUE POTENTIAL! We have opportunity, through Holy Spirit indwelling us – to live righteously, in perfect peace, carrying the mind of Christ within us. We are no longer slaves to sin but slaves to righteousness!!!
God goes on to describe us as having all the potential we will ever need to be a sure success in the Kingdom. He gets personal. He calls you. He redeems you. He buys you back from the enemy. He transfers you from the kingdom of darkness into His Kingdom of Light. He gives you dominion over the enemy. He gives you wisdom, power and agape love. He gives you hope in transfer from the hopeless life. He gives you purpose beyond your flesh. He grants His anointing to you, which is totally different from talent. Even your heartaches become pathways to glorious outcomes!
God loves you and He’s for you – to give you a future and a hope. Your potential, beloved, is literally out of this world as you live in the Light of His glory and Grace!
Romans 5:6 For at just the right time, while we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
Romans 6:6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.
Galatians 2:20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Jeremiah 9:24 But let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD, who exercises loving devotion, justice and righteousness on the earth–for I delight in these things,” declares the LORD.
2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
About the Author:
In a Christian Women’s meeting in 1983, Rebekah was given a prophetic message that she would write books. Several years ago she began writing stories about special holiday memories and travels, sharing God’s love and care through each story. God has gifted Rebekah with the ability to look at the natural and see the supernatural. Both Rebekah and her husband Danny have a heart to share the Gospel and the riches of life in Christ to everyone they meet. They have served in the local church and in ministry to motorcyclists. Danny is an ordained minister and they both have been Bible study teachers for many years. Rebekah also speaks at women’s retreats and conferences. Her tag line says it all “God loves you and He’s for you”.
