Never Forsaken

Sometimes life gets busy… but how our Lord cares for us and answers when we call upon Him, even in the daily routine challenges of our lives.  He even helps us in the seemingly insignificant situations we may find ourselves in.

For instance, one day not too long ago, I was particularly busy and running behind for a class I teach on Wednesdays.  Of course it seemed like everything that could get in the way of my getting to the class on time happened that day.  I had all sorts of interruptions during the time very close to when I am usually preparing to leave.   An important call came in that I had to take.  Then someone showed up at the front door.  I managed to let the other teachers know I would be running late.  Finally, I had to gather my water bottle, phone, keys, and lesson plans to the vehicle.  Then I had traffic delays.  I was truly exasperated and now twenty minutes later than usual.

In this situation, all I could do was pray and hope that everything would work out.  It wouldn’t help the matter any by allowing myself to become frazzled.  How pleasantly surprised I was when I arrived.  Another teacher who often helps my class out but isn’t always able to attend was there that day.  I was so thankful because she hadn’t been able to help me in recent weeks due to a summer vacation.  To see her already there with the kids in my class just made my day!  I knew the Lord had covered me!  I was ecstatic.

It might seem like a small thing to some, but to me, this was awesome!  Sure, the kids would have been all right either way.  They could have temporarily gone to the class next to mine, but this was even better!

Then, when I opened the curriculum book to the lesson I had prepared, there was another reminder that caught my attention–:  the stickers we give the children in their workbooks when they complete a lesson!  The stickers were next to the lesson and simply said, “Be of good courage!  Joshua 1:9”

I hadn’t been looking at the stickers during my preparation time, but they certainly had my attention that day!  I couldn’t help but smile at how the Lord had worked this out for me.  Isn’t it wonderful how the Lord never ceases to forget about our needs?

Joshua 1:9   Have not I commanded thee?  Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:  for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest!
