I had my first book signing for Love Me Sane on 8/31/2013 at the Barnes and Noble on the IUPUI campus in Indianapolis, Indiana. I was elated by the amount of support I received from family and friends. This was also my birthday so I felt like a spiritual rebirth occurred. Although my book is realistic fiction I share a lot of similar experiences with the protagonist of my story Stacey Jones.
Stacey Jones is a middle aged woman who although is married to a pastor struggles to build a personal relationship with God. Through the years Stacey has found God to be evasive, elusive and unavailable. To complicate matters, Stacey is raped and turns to drugs and alcohol to numb her feelings of guilt, shame and inadequacy. She is desperate and after an almost accidental suicide she agrees to put her faith in her husband’s God.
Stacey soon discovers that her husband’s faith is not strong enough to sustain her thus begins her personal journey. Come follow Stacey as she seeks out her soul salvation and trudges the road to recovery.
I wrote this book because I knew I had a story that needed to be told. There are so many women whose lives are significantly impacted by abuse and violence. Many of us blame ourselves for having had such traumatic experiences. This blame is manifested through a series of inappropriate behaviors such as but not limited to promiscuity, substance abuse, abusive relationships etc. But now, there is another option. Instead of continuing to be victims we can carry our crosses, build a personal relationship with Christ and become women of substance.

Thank you for listening and happy reading.
