Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. Psalm 100:4

I hope everyone had a blessed and happy Thanksgiving and may you be blessed with many more. Today, I will give you a sneak preview of the cover for one of my present works-in-progress, which is coming soon and tell you a little about it through a sneak preview not previously shared. I love reading and writing historical romance novels. This is my fourth one, and I have gone more in-depth with the Battle of Vicksburg in it. It is pure fiction except for the researched history through many books on the Civil War I’ve read as well as many articles.

Thanks to Houmas House Plantation and Gardens for permission to use this lovely home on my cover. Houmas House is the Crown Jewel of Louisiana’s River Road, a refurbished twenty-one room mansion on thirty-six acres on the Mississippi River. It offers visitors a unique, historical glimpse into the world of yesterday through what was once Louisiana’s largest sugar cane plantation. I am so honored to be able to use this beautiful home on my cover. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

Siege of Azelia Plantation

Preview of Siege of Azalea Plantation

The Civil War stole her life and her new husband, but she vowed to keep his memory and dream alive and restore Azalea Plantation.

Widow Alexis Bella Seaborne led a sheltered life in the arms of massive oaks at Azalea Plantation with her new husband Luke Wyatt until the Civil War forced her to forget about the elegant dress of a lady and embrace survival when a Yankee officer took control of her home.

Lieutenant Reese Armstrong sieges her home for use as a hospital for his wounded soldiers and encampment grounds during the forty-seven day standoff for control of the Mississippi River before the surrender of Vicksburg.

Reese never thought he’d fall for a Southern belle, but he can’t deny the attraction he feels each time Alexis’s haunted blue eyes show passion for the home she loves and her beloved South. He can’t help but envy the love and regard she held for her husband and longs for love like it.

Alexis never thought she could love again when her husband died in the war. How could she fall for a Yankee when Union soldiers killed him? Left with nothing but a war-ravaged rundown plantation after the invasion of an ocean of blue, can she find trust and faith to move on? As movement flutters in her stomach, can she let go of the past to find a future for her and her unborn child?

Bill Dixon fights in the trenches as a Confederate solider who is a cousin to Reese. He longs for the war to end so he can return to Mary and marry her, but receives a ‘Dear John’ letter from her while fighting the hardest battle of his life, leaving him with little hope. He often wonders about the plantation on the bluff as he gazes at it from the trenches. After a horrible fight, he ends up hospitalized and meets a young widow from the North. Can she help him heal and get over Mary? What happens when Mary shows up looking for him, and wedding arrangements are in the making?

Just when Lexie and Reese grow close, The Battle of Vicksburg ends, and he’s called to duty at another location. Will she ever see him again? The Union holds the keys to the war, Vicksburg and the Mississippi River, yet the war rages, and Reese has to ride to Chattanooga because the Union wants the key railroad in its center.

Lexie dreams to restore Azalea Plantation once the war is over, but will it still be standing? Is Reese a spy or a traitor? When Mary recognizes him upon a chance meeting, will she make matters worse? There are many questions to be answered in this page-

turning saga that will take you back through the Battle of Vicksburg and battles after it.

Coming soon. Watch for it around December 1. Pull up a comfy chair and transport yourself back through time as Reese and Lexie fight for their love and their dreams, Bill decides between an old love and a new one, and the Civil War rages. Available for the Amazon Kindle.

Hearts yearn, war rages, and lives are disrupted when a handsome Yankee devil invades her home and her heart, making Alexis realize despite her efforts to die on the inside, he’s awakened the spirit, heart, and passion she thought she’d buried for good. If you enjoy historical romance, don’t miss this one.
