When I was a kid with every presidential election I knew who my dad liked and didn’t like in the office.  He was quite vocal about his political beliefs, well about ALL his beliefs.  But never once did my dad threaten in word or deed anyone because he didn’t agree with them.  We all have opinions, but we don’t all have the urge to do harm because of those differing opinions.

Oh beloved, I don’t know about you but I’m not fond of the turmoil in the world today.  Our country is definitely on a precipice.  I don’t like precipices either!  The dizziness and sick stomach I have experienced at the edge of a cliff makes me want to avoid them all together.  I can’t make sense of it and I can’t see the Lord in much of the activity and talk going on.  I would bet you are as concerned as I am.  What shall we do? Where can we go? Who do we trust?

God wants you and I to know this morning that He has not left His throne, nor can any being usurp His Sovereign Reign over all the earth.  To run and hide won’t work. Unless we run and Hide ourselves in Him.  We may not can make sense of the situations we find ourselves in, whether they are national or in our own personal lives. But we can roll all our cares on the Lord.  Kings and kingdoms will all pass away. But not God.  The Only Living God is going to remain alive and in charge of heaven and earth.  Everything else may change but God never will.

God speaks peace over His people. His people don’t work against His Word.  His people live for His Truth. And they speak from a heavenly viewpoint, not an earthly one.  And the setup is that just as you and I think we cannot live on the precipice a moment longer, God will show up in miraculous ways.  He laughs at the schemes of lost mankind.  Therefore, we can laugh without fear of the future.  You, beloved believer, may go through rough times, but you will not succumb to the enemy’s onslaught. His love will do more than save you in the future and get you to heaven. His love will keep you now – and cause you to be steadfast, immovable and always abounding in His work.

God loves you and He’s for you. It’s time to quit fearing the precipice because you’ve read the end of the Book!  Instead run to the Father, ask Him for an increase in the firm footing of fellowship with Him. Ask Him to relieve you of the fear that is so common today.  Ask Him to reassure you that He will not let you fall into the abyss of hopelessness. And live, precious, loved, cared for believer, in the Light of the knowledge of God’s Truth and Hope.

Colossians 3:1-4 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

Jude 1:21  Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

Colossians 1:6 “For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

About the Author:

Rebekah Beene

In a Christian Women’s meeting in 1983, Rebekah was given a prophetic message that she would write books. Several years ago she began writing stories about special holiday memories and travels, sharing God’s love and care through each story. God has gifted Rebekah with the ability to look at the natural and see the supernatural. Both Rebekah and her husband Danny have a heart to share the Gospel and the riches of life in Christ to everyone they meet. They have served in the local church and in ministry to motorcyclists. Danny is an ordained minister and they both have been Bible study teachers for many years. Rebekah also speaks at women’s retreats and conferences. Her tag line says it all “God loves you and He’s for you”.
