While cleaning up after Christmas I came across a journal. Now I have many journals, some are written in completely while others have just a few notes. But this one had two pages written by a very young granddaughter. She wrote out definitions for Hallelujah, Worship, Barak, Shaback, Abad, Gawl and Yadah, Alaz. These are the seven Hebrew words for worship – ways to praise God.

I learned something – Hallelujah means spontaneous worship of one who is excited about God. Worship – an attitude of the body.  Barak – to kneel to bow to give reverence to God. Abad – to work or serve. Shabach – to bow down or fall down flat in homage or loyalty to God. Gawl – to spin around wildly with intense emotion. Yadah – revere with extended hands. Alaz – to jump for joy.
Oh beloved, we need to know these words for worshiping the Only Living God. We cannot hope to live for Jesus without reverence and worship towards God. God is speaking this morning – write the words of faith on a tablet, a notebook, a journal. Refer to it often. Know your God. Know your worship. Know your Savior.
He also reminds us that the time is drawing close to His return. He will come for those who worship Him in Spirit and Truth. Don’t be dismayed if you feel like an outcast because you worship with your whole heart. It’s all about you and God. Nobody else. If a young girl can write Hallelujah, then we can sure say so! He says He is bringing forth worshipers. And He is restoring those who once worshipped and bringing them to the forefront.
God loves you and He is for you. Worship Him in the beauty of His holiness. Worship is warfare. And you are a warrior of the Only Living God, who is standing on the precipice and living for Him and giving homage to Him and sharing His truth to everyone you meet!
Psalm 135:3-4 Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; celebrate his lovely name with music.  For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel for his own special treasure.
Psalm 96:9 Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.

John 4:23-24 But a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him. God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.
