I remember the morning of 9/11. I was getting ready for work and was watching the news. Of course I thought what a terrible tragic accident that a plane crashed into a building. And then on the way to work I heard on the radio that another accident happened the same way.

I was very sick to my stomach. This was planned. America was under attack. And more tragedy occurred. The final of the four planes crashed after heroic measures to stop the intended destination. I don’t know about y’all, but it brings tears to my eyes 20 years later as I remember how I felt then and how I still feel now.

Oh beloved, I hear the Lord speaking. He is not the author of evil, nor did He coordinate those heinous attacks. There is one mastermind behind all evil and he is known. His name is satan. And he is real. And he uses whoever he can, to do whatever he can to kill, steal and destroy. Unfortunately he looks like a winner at times like 9/11. He is not.

You beloved, are unfortunately as under attack as our beloved country was that day. Although we haven’t seemed to be able to wipe out the evil terrorist groups that took credit for the heinous crime against our nation, God will one day wipe out all evil forever.

In the meantime, God wants you to know two things: You are not without defense. And you cannot pacify the enemy. Your only defense to the attacks of the enemy, satan, is to stand on the Word of God. As you learn to believe what God’s Word says, you will find strength and courage beyond human means. You can’t win any battle by giving in to the whims of evil. But you are automatically the ultimate winner when you resist the devil in the power of Holy Spirit. Yes, you have had harsh battles, heinous things that have happened along the way. Some of you are still grieving the losses. Grief is not a short momentary issue. But it doesn’t have to rule your life. God says this morning to stand up, shake off the evil notion that you are victimized forever. He says to rise up and pray. Rise up and praise. Rise up and live this day as though you are indeed the winner in Christ that you are. It’s not easy, but it gets easier as you lean on the Lord.

God loves you and He’s for you. Always. Whatever is happening to you today, you can rest in His promises and stand on His Word. And you can live in the Light of His never ending mercy, grace and Agape love.

Proverbs 15:26 Evil plans are an abomination to the Lord…

Psalm 138:7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve my life. You stretch out Your hand against the anger of my foes; with Your right hand You save me.

1 Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Ephesians 6:12-13 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore take up the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand.
