We tried to watch a movie last night. Both of us had a turn at finding one worth watching. We don’t exactly like the same kind of movie, so it makes for interesting searches. I found one but it was a rental. And hubby didn’t want to spend the money. He found one, but I wasn’t really wanting to watch Sci Fi last night. So we decided to forget the idea of a movie and retired to bed for the night.
Except I watched a video and showed it to him. It was of a young man from Africa on America’s Got Talent. He was singing “Promises” a beautiful worship song. As we listened together the atmosphere changed. Peace swept over us as we watched this young man transform the arena he was singing in.
God spoke to my heart. “People DO respond to God. Don’t let anyone tell you that the world has no response and doesn’t care about the God of Abraham. It’s religion they aren’t responding to anymore. But when they encounter His Presence, they indeed respond.” There was such overwhelming response, that the stars of the show told the audience they could make the choice for that young singer. They overwhelmingly, many with tears in their eyes, said Yes!
Oh beloved! When is the last time you encountered God? I mean really encountered Him and felt His presence? Oh not just read the Bible. Not just attend a religious service. But having an encounter with the Lord is life changing, every single time. Are you too busy? I get it. Are you actively looking for something else that entertains? I get that too.
But listen beloved. God wants to have relationship with us on a personal level. Encountering Him is what our hearts long for. That’s what we are hungry to experience. Many things are good, but they don’t move us in the spirit. Your heart is the home to the Lord and your mind is never more content than when you take time to be still and know that He is God. Mary and Martha show us that one chose the better thing. God says this morning, choose to listen to what feeds your spirit and your soul and body will be fed as well.
God loves you and He is for you. Free passes to His Presence are the gift from Christ for you. Just because you need that the most for your life.
Luke 10:41-42 “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her”.
Psalm 139:17-18 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.
Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Psalm 42:1 As the deer pants [longingly] for the water brooks, So my soul pants [longingly] for You, O God.
About the Author:
In a Christian Women’s meeting in 1983, Rebekah was given a prophetic message that she would write books. Several years ago she began writing stories about special holiday memories and travels, sharing God’s love and care through each story. God has gifted Rebekah with the ability to look at the natural and see the supernatural. Both Rebekah and her husband Danny have a heart to share the Gospel and the riches of life in Christ to everyone they meet. They have served in the local church and in ministry to motorcyclists. Danny is an ordained minister and they both have been Bible study teachers for many years. Rebekah also speaks at women’s retreats and conferences. Her tag line says it all “God loves you and He’s for you”.
