Yesterday while we were at a friend’s house, I remembered how women are wearing their mothers’ and grandmothers’ wedding dresses. Only they aren’t leaving them as they were in the 70’s or earlier. They are removing and reshaping the dress to a more updated version.  That requires removing some items and changing seamlines and hemlines. Those dresses hold much sentimental value. But to be relevant for today’s bride, changes must happen.

Oh beloved, God is fashioning you into a bride for this season. He will need to change things around for you. It might seem hurtful that He removes things here and there. It might seem callous to have such changes made. But God is putting new wine in new wineskins. He is bringing His own up to date for this season.  Don’t fear the changes. Instead, embrace them. You have asked God to draw you closer to Him and this is what is required. You have asked God for a garment of praise so He is loosing you from the spirit of heaviness.  You have said you want Him to create a clean heart in you, so He is removing the stony heart. Fear of change is a liar. You are going to love what God does for you. Just hold onto Him as He removes and rips and refashions you into His most beautiful bride.
God loves you and He is for you. That’s why you can let Him make the changes. And you will live thoroughly adorned with His righteous garments for He is returning so very soon for you!
Matthew 9:17 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine, and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so that both are preserved.
2 Corinthians 5:5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

2 Corinthians 3:18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
