Ps. 62:1-2 I wait quietly before God, for my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.
When was the last time you waited quietly before God? If you are honest, it’s probably been awhile. Most of our lifestyles do not lend themselves to alone time with God, let alone quiet time. We are so wrapped up into our living that we forget how to really live. The soul needs quiet time alone with God. We need to make alone time a priority on our daily agenda. If we don’t have the time, then we must make the time by letting something else go. We will never know true peace and victory in Jesus without time alone with Him. Quiet time means we shut out all other distractions. It means we consider this time of our day more important than everything else.
We wait quietly before the Lord because our salvation comes from Him. He is our only hope. He is our eternal life. He is the anchor of our lives and holds us steady. He is our fortress and He alone is able to protect us from all that would threaten our souls. He alone is the one who can guide us along the path of righteousness. He alone has the authority and purity of heart to rightly judge our souls. He alone has the power to create life and the authority to take it away. He alone is the one whom every knee will bow and confess that He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.
God is our rock. He is solid through and through and withstands whatever storms may come His way. He is unfazed by the things that faze us. He is steadfast and is not moved by the things that move us. When we are anchored to the Rock, we are safe; we will not lose our grip and fall under the pressures of life’s storms.
If you do not have a regular time in your day to set aside to be quiet before our Lord, today is the day that you can do something about it. Today is the first day of the rest of your life and there is no better way to start a new way of living than to set aside a quiet time to be with the Lord. Wait quietly before Him and you will be amazed by how much better your life will be.
About the Author:
Spending his formative years in Ft. Wayne, IN, Jim followed the love of his life to southeast Iowa where they married and have spent the majority of their lives. Jim has pastored several churches throughout his life and has worked many years in local factories to help support his family. The father of two married adult children and one son still at home, Jim is a first-time author.
C Through Marriage came into being through many years of pastoral and life experiences. The book first took on a life of its own over 20 years ago when I sought to address the much publicized moral failures of prominent leaders in the church. In the chapter on Chasity, I include the guideliness that I developed then to protect one’s self from such failures.
I am a firm believer in order to make sense out of life you have to use much common sense. We need to get back to the basics of what has worked for many, many generations. If is isn’t broke, why try to fix it? I strive to return to the basics of what really works in all my writings.
