Well yesterday was my birthday. I must say it was one of the best ever. All day was just a very good day! I thought about my brother a couple of times and as I drove into the driveway after work I thought I would just call him on my birthday. I’ve done that before because, you know, sometimes brothers don’t know birthdays. And I wanted to hear from him on my day. But once inside the house I got busy preparing supper and visiting with hubby. I forgot about calling him.

After supper and while we were getting ready to watch the movie, Overcomer, for my birthday movie, my phone rings. It’s my brother. We visit and laugh and discuss current events. And then he needed to go. I slipped in that he couldn’t have called on a better day because it was my birthday. He was totally surprised! He didn’t know it was my birthday at all. But he was so glad he called. Now that’s a little thing in many ways, but God knew and He made a way.

Oh beloved, do you really know how much God loves you? He’s serious about it. Because He loves you He hears every word you whisper, every wish you desire and every tug of your heart. He is so very interested in your life that He will move heaven and earth for you. He will orchestrate the universe so that your 76 year old brother will call! Or whatever your heart’s desire is, He knows it and He will do what only He can do.

God wants you to know that He is not a distant heavenly resident unaware and uninterested. He didn’t just create you to remain on your own to try to make your own best life. He’s been wooing you and calling you since forever. He knows you by name. And as you learn to delight yourself in Him, He truly gives you the desires of your heart. He knows how to make a good day better! He knows how to take bad days and make them shine with His Glory. He knows how to take your wayward child and give them a heart to know Him. While you’re praying and begging and pleading in your prayer closet, He is rearranging all of creation and working it all out. If you feel like giving up today, don’t. This could be your day to get your answer, to see His Glory, to hear the thing you’ve been longing for. Rest in His promises but don’t give up! Keep seeking, keep knocking, keep praying.

God loves you and He’s for you. Always, right now, tomorrow and every single day. Run to Him this morning and if you need to, apologize for wanting to give up. Ask Him for renewed fervor and faith. And live, precious believer, knowing His eye is on the sparrow and He always cares for you!

Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 7:7 Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 116:2 Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!
