We went to a grandson’s ballgame to cheer him on and enjoy the playoff game. It didn’t take long to see that game wasn’t going well and probably wouldn’t end well for our grandson’s team. I was thinking of writing about the unfairness that happened. Being specific. But instead, as I write this, I hear the Lord saying: 1. forgive all the unforgivable stuff. And 2. Focus on the good stuff.
Now let me tell you when I see unfair things: I want to chant the loudest. I hate unfair. Which leads me to my second feeling about unfair things: I want to pack up and go home. Forget it. Done.
So the game played out and the final score was 30-zip. Our team was zip. Our good team with our good grandson who played “good” all season. Zip. With several doses of unfair in with it.
But when the team gathered for the coach’s talk and the Lord’s Prayer, I heard coach say he was proud of them for playing through and for doing their best when it wasn’t pleasant or easy. That’s enough, isn’t it?
Oh Beloved. If you will forgive the unfairness and instead focus on the good stuff you will be the winner. Victory in Jesus. And victory over the enemy. This is exactly what Jesus has done for you. He has forgiven everything- past present and future. He has forgotten the unfairness of His life and yours. And He chooses to focus on the good stuff. This is salvation. This is resurrection living. This is the best way to live. And believe it or not you will always have times you need love and kindness and forgiveness. So, make a habit of giving those things out often and without reservation.
God loves you and He is for you. When you have unfair situations and you just want to shout gripes and walk away- He walks with you. The unfairness of games and life situations can sure sideline any one of us can’t it? God is not saying you can’t be angry about it. He just says run to Him for help and wisdom on how to handle any unfair situation in your life. And then live in the Light of His covering for He is fair and good and the outcome will be great for you always.
Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and tender hearted to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Proverbs 19:11 A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.
Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Philippians 4:8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
