We were so tired of running squirrels away from our bird feeders that we quit putting feed in them for a while. But the other day I just wanted to see some birds, especially the little bluebirds that we have, so I put a scoop of seed in the feeder.  The birds did come back, but so did the squirrels. Those thieves don’t just take a bite, they devour the birdseed.
Oh beloved, about thieves. You know we are all plagued with them. Maybe not the furry kind, but thieves are troublesome nonetheless. Some thieves steal things. Others try to steal your peace, your confidence, your blessings and even your future.  But you get to watch for these thieves and keep them out of your life.
God gives you and I a litmus test for thievery – satan comes only to kill, steal and destroy.  Notice the AND not the OR. It’s a package deal. He’s out for it all. He isn’t content to steal from you, he wants to steal all your wonderful life.  He comes into your store of God’s miracles, signs and wonders and walks around like a shoplifter.
But here is the greatest news. You aren’t a victim of any discrepancy of darkness. You are the righteousness of God in Christ.  You shine everywhere you go. And you shine however you go. You may feel fear but you shine confidence. You may feel inadequate, but you shine abundance. You may feel broken, but you shine strength. No weapon formed against you can possibly prosper. The thief already has his ending written in the Book of Books. And your ending is there as well. It doesn’t end well for the intruder. But oh beloved, it all ends grandly for you!
God loves you and He is for you. Always, forever and even when you go home forever. No empty birdseed life for you. For you already have it all running over through Christ!
John 10:10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].
Ephesians 4:23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.
Psalm 138:3 As soon as I pray, You answer me; You encourage me by giving me strength.
